AGI

Artificial general intelligence, a loosely defined goal of AI that matches or exceeds people across most cognitive tasks.

Artificial general intelligence (AGI) usually refers to an AI system able to perform most intellectual work at least as well as people, rather than excelling at narrow tasks. Several leading AI companies describe building it as their mission.

There is no agreed definition or test. Companies define it differently, sometimes in economic terms and sometimes in terms of capabilities, and some contracts between companies have reportedly turned on how it is defined.

Predictions about when AGI will arrive are claims, not measurements. Treat them as statements about the speaker's expectations and incentives.
