FASCSA

The Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Act of 2018, a US law that lets officials bar risky technology from federal systems.

The Federal Acquisition Supply Chain Security Act of 2018 (FASCSA) created a Federal Acquisition Security Council and gave designated federal officials power to issue orders excluding products or services that pose supply-chain risks from federal purchasing, and requiring them to be removed from federal systems.

It is a general supply-chain security law, not an AI law, but it can be applied to AI software and services. A standard federal contract clause bars contractors from using products covered by a FASCSA order on that work unless a waiver is granted.

A FASCSA order applies to federal agencies and contractors within its scope. It does not ban the product for private businesses or the public.
