Funding round (Series A, B, C...)

A stage of venture investment in a private company; later letters usually mean a more mature company raising larger sums.

Startups raise money in rounds. A seed round is usually the earliest institutional money; Series A, B, C, and so on follow as the company grows. Each round sells new shares to investors at a price that implies a valuation.

The letters are conventions, not legal categories. Companies name rounds as they choose, and some AI companies raise very large amounts at early letters or skip the letters entirely.

The headline amount may include money paid in installments, tied to milestones, or provided as cloud credits or chips rather than cash. Check what is committed and when.
