System card

A document a developer publishes with a model describing its intended uses, test results, risks, and safeguards.

A system card, also called a model card, is a report released alongside an AI model. It typically describes what the model is for, how it was evaluated, known limitations, and the safety measures the developer applied, including results of red teaming and dangerous-capability tests.

System cards are among the main public sources of information about a model's risks. In some places, rules now require developers of large models to publish similar documentation.

They are written by the developer about its own product. They are useful evidence of what the company tested and claims, but not independent verification, and what they leave out can matter as much as what they include.
